The Long Island Fencers’ Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, proudly extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Stop & Shop for its continued generosity, community partnership, and commitment to helping address food insecurity among Long Island’s senior citizen population.
Through the generosity of Stop & Shop management and staff, our Club has been welcomed at various Stop & Shop supermarket locations throughout Long Island to conduct our “Save Our Seniors” Food Drives. These important community service initiatives bring together our student-athletes, coaches, families, volunteers, and local residents in a shared mission to assist elderly individuals who face the growing challenges of food insecurity.
For many senior citizens living on fixed or limited incomes, rising costs associated with groceries, housing, healthcare, and other essential living expenses can make obtaining adequate nutrition increasingly difficult. Far too often, older adults must make difficult decisions between purchasing food, paying for medication, and meeting other basic necessities.
Our “Save Our Seniors” initiative is founded on the belief that no senior citizen should have to choose between purchasing food and meeting other essential needs.
The nonperishable food items generously contributed by Stop & Shop customers and members of our community are ordinarily donated to Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank, with donations specifically designated for distribution to senior citizens experiencing food insecurity throughout Long Island. This collaborative effort helps ensure that the generosity of our donors reaches older residents who need additional nutritional assistance and community support.
The Long Island Fencers’ Club recognizes that meaningful community service requires strong partnerships with businesses and organizations that share a commitment to making a positive difference. By providing our volunteers with opportunities to conduct food drives at its supermarket locations, Stop & Shop plays an important role in helping us collect essential food donations, raise public awareness, and encourage community participation.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Philip J. Daly, the Long Island Fencers’ Club remains committed to teaching its members that the values associated with Olympic fencing extend far beyond athletic competition. Respect, responsibility, leadership, compassion, and service to others are fundamental principles that guide our organization and its community outreach programs.
Our student-athletes are encouraged to recognize that personal achievement is measured not only by success in competition but also by their willingness to assist those who are less fortunate and contribute meaningfully to the communities in which they live.

The Engelmann Construction family is based in our hometown of Northport, NY, where our main office, yard, and shop are located. Working together as a family business can be tough at times, but overall, it's a gift. Our biggest challenge is stopping the shop talk at holiday gatherings.

Although we are located in New York, we have regional (East Coast) capabilities with years of successful projects under our belts. One of the things we especially enjoy is staying accredited with certified teams in every roofing system. That way, we can present solutions to our clients based on their needs. It may sound a little commercial or pitchy, but it is 100% true.
Safety
Our teams are always supervised by an Engelmann Construction principle and as a result, we have a 98% satisfaction rate with a referral business that is the envy of our competition! Safety training and OSHA compliance are also extremely important to us. It's only roofing and we are not saving the world, but no one should ever get hurt working with us. That's the goal.
