The Long Island Fencers' Club is proud to announce that we are hosting the first-ever Long Island based Summer Fencing and piggyback Chess Summer Camps.  Campers may attend our Fencing Camps or Chess Camps separately or piggyback them one after the other.  Our Fencing Camps are scheduled from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, and our Chess Camps are scheduled from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Campers transitioning from Fencing Camp to Chess Camp are encouraged to pack an afternoon snack they can enjoy from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm. 

Give your child the edge this summer with a unique dual-intensity camp that combines the physical and mental strategies of chess. This innovative program is perfect for students ages 8 to 17 who want to master anticipation, tactical thinking, and disciplined growth both on the board and on the fencing strip.

Professional oversight

The fencing camps are conducted by the Long Island Fencers' Club, Long Island's largest club by membership, and a premier club with USA Fencing, ensuring top-tier physical training and safety. 

The chess camps are led by Brian Karen and his team, with Brian holding the FIDE Candidate Master (CM) title and ranking among the top 3% of all tournament chess players. Their professional oversight guarantees a supportive environment for skill development and strategic improvement.

Tactical training 

Campers will engage in hands-on tactical drills designed to enhance their ability to anticipate and react, sharpening their competitive instincts in both fencing and chess. With individualized instruction and group sessions, participants learn how to strategize, analyze, and make quick decisions under pressure.

This camp is dedicated to forging a disciplined, tactical mindset through elite coaching in both mental and physical domains. By integrating fencing and chess, students build confidence, resilience, and strategic thinking that will serve them well in academics, sports, and life.
