Fencing can be extremely enjoyable for the young and old alike. The Long Island Fencers' Club offers fencing classes starting at six years old. If you are interested, join us for our Introduction to Fencing Classes.
The Long Island Fencers' Club is a Nonprofit 501(c)(3) Premier Long Island Fencing Club dedicated to encouraging physical fitness, mental acuity, and social engagement through the Olympic Sport of Fencing. The Long Island Fencers' Club engages our members and challenges them to become better athletes, fencers, and members of society.
The Long Island Fencers Club has a western and eastern Suffolk County location. Our Western Fencing Club was founded in the Huntington YMCA, but our Fencing Club outgrew so quickly that we moved classes to the Old First Presbyterian Church, 125 Main Street, Huntington, New York 11743. Our Eastern Fencing Club was founded in the Patchogue Family YMCA and also outgrew this location, and we moved to the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 179 East Main Street, Patchogue, New York 11772. These facilities are Amazing!
The Long Island Fencers Club consists of the three fencing disciplines. Each discipline receives specialized training in the Olympic Sport of Fencing. Our Epee Fencers earn their name, Epee Bandits from the way they steal their opponent's touches, our Foil Fencers earn their name, Foil Hornets from the sting-like method in which they score touches, and our Sabre Fencers earn their name, Sabre Raptors from the superb manner in which they perform belly cuts.
Students and Fencers wishing to enjoy a truly wonderful experience while developing a superior level of ability and those seeking a more relaxed learning environment are welcome to come check us out. The Sport of Fencing can be enjoyed at the fencing club level as a recreational fencer at the local, regional, national, and/or international level.
New students are introduced to the three disciplines (Epee, Foil, and Sabre) and choose which discipline they would like to fence regularly. Fencers can work towards participating on the high school level at many Nassau and Suffolk County schools, the collegiate club level, and/or the NCAA team level.
The Long Island Fencers Club is committed to a strong equal opportunity program without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, genetic information, or reprisal.
Presently, the NCAA has forty-eight NCAA teams that participate on the Division I, II, and III levels. The Sport of Fencing is also a Collegiate Club with over one hundred clubs, most of which gather for an annual National Championships.
The Long Island Fencers Club's core values are simple. We believe that our athletes should consider family their priority. Next, we believe that our student's education is their second priority, and perhaps fencing is third. Our staff is committed to providing a nurturing and respectful environment to enhance your child's experience.
The Long Island Fencers Club is a “No Bullying” and “Judgement Free Zone” welcoming fencers from all walks of life. Here, your fencer will be treated with fairness, unhampered by artificial barriers, prejudices, or preferences as they explore the world of fencing. Our coaching staff believes positive reinforcement is the best teaching method and employs an analytical approach when instructing our students. Through it all, we encourage our athletes to have fun!
Did you know that a Fencing Academy, Fencing Center, Fencing Club, Fencing Institute, Fencing Salle, and Fencing School are all the same? Generally speaking, all offer Adult Fencing Classes, Beginner Fencing Classes, Fencing Classes, and Fencing Lessons.
Did you know that most beginner fencers choose their first fencing club based on the distance from their home?
